Equality Kansas Endorses Governor Kelly for Re-Election
TOPEKA – Today, Equality Kansas, the state’s leading LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, has endorsed Governor Kelly for re-election. Governor Kelly has stood by the LGBTQ+ community in Kansas throughout her time in office. On the very first day of her administration, Governor Kelly signed an executive order reestablishing protections for LGBTQ+ state employees so that no Kansan is fired or discriminated against for who they are. Governor Kelly will continue to ensure every Kansan is treated with dignity and respect.
“Since Governor Kelly was first sworn in as a state senator in 2005, she has been a steadfast ally to the Kansas LGBTQ community,” Thomas Witt, executive director of Equality Kansas, said. “We were proud to endorse her during her years in the Kansas Senate, and endorsed her campaign for governor in 2018. We are deeply grateful to Governor Kelly for her leadership, and are proud to endorse her once again for re-election. “
“All Kansans should feel safe to work, live, and raise their families here,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “I am honored to have the support of Equality Kansas, and I’m proud of the work I have done to protect all Kansans from discrimination and look forward to continuing these efforts as we move our state forward.”
Governor Kelly’s campaign continues to build momentum earning wide support from every corner of Kansas including former RNC Committeewoman Alicia Salisbury, former Republican Attorney General Robert Stephan, former Republican Representative Jan Kessinger, former Republican Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger, over 60 other Kansas Republicans, over 125 current and former Kansas educators, and the Kansas Carpenters Union.
