Governor Laura Kelly Files for Reelection  

Governor Laura Kelly and Lieutenant Governor David Toland formally filed for reelection to continue serving the people of Kansas.

 

TOPEKA – Today Governor Laura Kelly filed the paperwork for her 2022 candidacy for Governor of Kansas. In her first term as governor, Laura Kelly created and retained over 42,000 new jobs, brought over $8.7 billion in business investment to Kansas, and fully funded schools – all while saving Kansans more than $1 billion in taxes over the next three years. In her second term, Governor Kelly looks to continue growing the economy, expanding Medicaid, ensuring schools are funded, roads and bridges are repaired, and building on record economic development success.

 

“I’m proud of the work we’ve done over the past three years, and hope to continue building on these accomplishments in my second term,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “From fully funding our schools to investing in Kansas’ economy and turning the state around, we’ve made Kansas a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Kansas is finally back on track, but there’s still more work to be done. Let’s keep building a better future for Kansas together.”

 

Since taking office, Governor Kelly has:

  • Completely eliminated the food sales tax by 2025
  • Cut property taxes, providing financial relief to Kansas homeowners
  • Created and retained over 42,000 new jobs
  • Brought in over $8.7 billion in business investment to Kansas, boosting the economy
  • Started over 1,000 transportation projects, fixing our roads and bridges
  • Created over 600 new economic development projects
  • Fully funded schools 4 years in a row
  • Achieved the lowest unemployment rate in decades
