TOPEKA – Today, Everytown for Gun Safety, one of the largest gun violence prevention organizations in the country, endorsed Governor Laura Kelly for re-election. Everytown for Gun Safety along with its grassroots networks Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, is a movement of parents, students, educators, and gun owners fighting to end gun violence and build safer communities. The group advocates for common-sense, evidence-based solutions to address gun violence around the country.
“Governor Kelly understands that common-sense gun safety laws go hand in hand with responsible gun ownership,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action. “Governor Kelly has brought Democrats, Republicans, and Independents together to work towards addressing gun violence to save lives, and we know she will continue to do that in her second term. We are proud to stand by her as she continues to work to protect all Kansans.”
“I am honored to have the support of Everytown for Gun Safety again, and to continue working with them to address gun violence,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “I am a lifelong supporter of the Second Amendment. However, like most Kansas gun-owners, I also know that we must enact common-sense solutions to prevent gun violence in our communities.
